Key Code Key Toad steps in while Mike Cavanagh recovers from A.I. overexposure
Los Angeles, CA – April 1, 2026 – Key Code Media today announced that Key Code Key Toad will serve as interim president while company founder Mike Cavanagh takes a temporary leave to recover from what insiders describe as an “advanced case of A.I. overuse.”
First introduced publicly on April 1, 2024 and affectionately known as “Code-y,” Key Code Key Toad has become a recognizable symbol within the organization. Known for leaping ahead of technology, connecting complex systems like lily pads across a pond, and guiding the next generation of “tadpoles” entering the industry, “Code-y The Toad-y” was a natural choice to step into the role.
“When others get stuck in the mud, we leap forward,” said Key Code Key Toad. “At Key Code Media, we connect systems like lily pads across a pond, building strong, flexible environments where teams can grow, adapt, and thrive.”
Leadership Transition Driven by A.I. Obsession
Mike Cavanagh’s temporary departure follows months of increasingly unusual behavior tied to his enthusiasm for artificial intelligence. According to internal sources, a growing number of emails had too many em-dashes, social media posts began featuring employees mysteriously transformed into toads, and photos appeared online of vendor training sessions included unexplained appearances by flying monkeys.
The situation reached a turning point during a recent trip to Bourbon Street, where Cavanagh reportedly broke his arm and wrist while attempting to generate “just one more image.” Following the incident, he acknowledged the need to step back and recover. While several Key Code managers declined or quietly avoided stepping into the interim role, Key Code Key Toad accepted without hesitation.
Business as Usual
Key Code Media confirmed that operations will continue uninterrupted during this transition. The company remains focused on delivering AV, broadcast, and post-production systems across the country.
“While Mike takes time to recover, we will continue to leap beyond expectations,” said Key Code Key Toad. “From consultation and design to installation, training, and support, our team will continue to deliver systems that help our customers move forward with confidence.”
Mike Cavanagh is expected to make a full recovery before NAB 2026, though sources indicate his access to A.I. image generation tools may be “temporarily restricted.”
