MC400 ACSR Avid Media Composer System Support Certification Overview

The Avid Media Composer System Support (MC400) class will provide students with the techniques to install, configure, and troubleshoot Media Composer editing systems to maximize productivity and minimize system downtime. A blend of online self-study, combined with classroom lab work and role-playing, gives students’ practical hands on experience. After completing the class, participants will be able to install and configure Avid Media Composer systems and provide first-line support to the Avid customer base. This class prepares candidates for the Avid Certified Support Representative: Media Composer certification exam as well as being the foundation of the program for candidates pursuing the full certification path to become an Avid Certified Support Representative: Elite.

Objectives

Upon completion of this class, students will be able to: 
  • Discuss the evolution of Avid's editing systems
  • Understand basic video theory
  • Understand a basic Avid network
  • Understand the Media Composer Licensing options and configurations
  • Identify and configure Mac, PC, and Avid hardware
  • Define OS X and Windows Operating System software concepts and features
  • Install and configure Avid's editing systems on both platforms
  • Install and configure Avid's editing systems with Avid NEXIS/ISIS and Interplay client software
  • Understand basic Avid storage RAID configurations
  • Configure local media drives and VideoRAID storage systems

Prerequisites

The following are highly recommended: Completion of the Media Composer Editing Essentials I (MC101) class, or equivalent Media Composer experience. Familiarity with Windows and Mac operating systems. Technical and operational knowledge of Avid Editing Systems: Media Composer, Media Composer | Symphony Option or Media Composer | News and local storage are recommended.

MC410 ACSR Avid Media Composer System Support Recertification Overview

The ACSR Avid Media Composer Systems Support Recertification class is designed to support individuals who intend to maintain their Avid Certified Support Representative: Media Composer certification status by sitting the recertification exam. The class will focus on the installation, administration, and architecture of Windows and Macintosh-based Avid editing systems, with emphasis on new features and functions in the current release.

Audience

This class is designed for Avid Certified Support Representatives (ACSRs) in Avid Media Composer System Support who need to update their certification.

Objectives

Upon completion of this class, students will be able to: 
  • Perform Avid Windows and Macintosh-based editing systems support
  • Learn what's new in current software releases
  • Learn what’s new in current hardware releases
  • Review DX hardware, software and systems compatibility
  • Have the foundation to be able to sit the recertification exam

Prerequisites

Prior MC400 ACSR Avid Media Composer System Support certification.

NX423 ACSR Avid ISIS/NEXIS System Support Certification Overview

In the ACSR Avid NEXIS System Support (NX423) class students focus on the installation, administration, and architecture of the Avid NEXIS system, learning to connect, configure, and troubleshoot the system. Lab work and exercises give students practical experience in integrating systems and applying troubleshooting techniques. This class prepares candidates for the Avid Certified Support Representative for Avid NEXIS certification exam. Class attendees must have completed the online content prior to attending the classroom training. 

Audience

This class is designed for: System Administrators responsible for the day-to-day operation and administration of an Avid NEXIS system. Front-line maintenance personnel and Engineers. Facility or freelance technicians responsible for large Avid NEXIS/Interplay workgroup environments in a broadcast facility ACSR candidates.

The ACSR Avid NEXIS System Support Recertification (NX440) is a classroom class designed to support individuals who intend to maintain their ACSR Avid NEXIS certification status by sitting the recertification exam. The class will focus on the installation, administration, and architecture of Avid NEXIS, with emphasis on new information accumulated in the past year.

Audience

This class is designed for Avid Certified Support Representatives (ACSRs) in Avid NEXIS who need to update their certification.

Objectives

Upon completion of this class, students will be able to: 
  • Learn what's new in current software releases
  • Learn what’s new in current hardware releases
  • Maintain competency in:
    • Identifying NEXIS hardware components
    • Understanding the NEXIS Architecture
    • Administrating NEXIS Storage Groups, Workspaces and Clients
    • Understanding Networking fundamentals and NEXIS Network Topologies
    • Maintaining NEXIS Systems
    • Troubleshooting NEXIS Issues

PT400 ACSR Pro Tools System Support Certification Overview

The ACSR Pro Tools System Support (PT400) is a blended class providing online content prior to attending a classroom Instructor-led training program. Students will learn configuration and troubleshooting techniques to minimize system downtime and maximize productivity, focusing on Pro Tools | HD software and hardware problems. Lab work and role playing give students practical experience. After completing the class, participants are able to provide first-line support to the Avid Pro Tools and Pro Tools | HD customer base. There is an initial Online Exam and the hands on activity concludes with a significant practical exercise in preparation for the certification exam. This class prepares candidates for the Avid Certified Support Representative: Pro Tools certification exam, as well as being the foundation of the program for candidates pursuing the full certification path to become an Avid Certified Support Representative: Elite.

Audience

This class is designed for: Support and maintenance personnel. Pro Tools | HD users who wish to expand their technical expertise.

Objectives

Upon completion of this class, students will be able to: 
  • Identify and configure Mac & PC CPUs and Operating Systems for use with Pro Tools software & hardware 
  • Install and configure Avid Pro Tools | HD software & hardware 
  • Review and identify Pro Tools | HD hardware including audio interfaces, PCIe cards, synchronization devices, etc. 
  • Explore, install, configure and troubleshoot synchronization concepts 
  • Compare capabilities between Pro Tools product lines 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems on Avid Pro Tools systems 
  • Be ready to sit the ACSR Pro Tools certification exam
